Cookie Policy

Effective: March 24, 2026

1. Introduction

Modern Valet™ LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), operating under the brand name Valet Guide™, uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on valetguide.com and our mobile-optimized web application (collectively, the "Service"). This Cookie Policy explains what these technologies are, why we use them, the specific cookies deployed on the Service, and the rights you have to control their use.

This Cookie Policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you consent to our use of cookies and similar technologies as described in this policy. If you do not accept the use of cookies, please adjust your browser settings as described in Section 6 below or discontinue use of the Service.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website operators to make their websites function, to improve efficiency, and to provide reporting information. Cookies set by the website operator are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website operator are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable features or functionality to be provided on or through the website, such as authentication, payment processing, and analytics.

In addition to cookies, we may use the following similar technologies:

  • Local Storage: A browser-based storage mechanism that allows websites to store data persistently on your device beyond a single session. Unlike cookies, local storage data is not transmitted to the server with each HTTP request and is accessible only by scripts on the originating domain.
  • Session Storage: Similar to local storage, but data is automatically cleared when the browser session ends — that is, when you close the browser tab or window. Session storage is used for transient, in-session state that need not persist across visits.
  • Pixels (Web Beacons): Tiny, often invisible, graphic files that may be embedded in web pages or emails to track user interactions. We do not currently deploy advertising pixels. Any pixels in use are limited strictly to service-functionality or transactional notification purposes.

3. Cookies We Use

The table below describes the categories of cookies we use on the Service and the specific purposes for which each category is deployed. Where a cookie is provided by a named third-party vendor, that vendor appears in the "Provider" column. The absence of a named vendor indicates a first-party cookie set directly by Modern Valet LLC.

A. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are typically set only in response to actions you take that amount to a request for services — such as logging in, completing a payment, or submitting a secured form. You may configure your browser to block these cookies; however, doing so will prevent core features of the Service from functioning and may make the Service entirely unavailable to you.

Cookie / TechnologyProviderPurposeDuration
Authentication Session CookiesThird-Party Authentication ProviderRequired to authenticate staff and administrator accounts, maintain login state across page navigations, and manage authenticated sessions. Without these cookies, staff login and all authenticated Service features are unavailable.Session / Persistent (per provider token TTL)
CSRF Double-Submit TokenModern Valet LLC (First-Party)A stateless HMAC-SHA256 signed token stored in a cookie and submitted as a request header to prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. The token is bound to the guest session hash and carries a 15-minute TTL. Required for secure form submission and all payment flows.15 minutes (session-bound)
Payment Session CookiesThird-Party Payment ProcessorRequired to process payments securely through our payment processor. These cookies support 3D Secure (3DS) card authentication flows and fraud detection. Without them, payment transactions cannot be initiated or completed.Session / Short-lived persistent

B. Functional Cookies

These cookies enable the Service to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have incorporated. If you disable these cookies, some features may not function correctly, but core Service access (login, payment) will remain available.

Cookie / TechnologyProviderPurposeDuration
User Preferences (Theme, Language)Modern Valet LLC (First-Party)Stores user interface preferences such as display theme and language selection so they persist across sessions without requiring reconfiguration on each visit.Persistent (up to 1 year)
Queue Display PreferencesModern Valet LLC (First-Party)Remembers how staff members prefer to view the operational queue — including sort order, column visibility, and refresh cadence — so those preferences persist between sessions.Persistent (up to 1 year)
Location Selector MemoryModern Valet LLC (First-Party)Retains the last-selected service location for staff users who operate across multiple venues, reducing repetitive location selection on each login.Persistent (up to 90 days)

C. Analytics Cookies

We may use analytics technologies to understand how users interact with the Service — for example, which features are used most frequently, where users encounter errors, and how overall performance can be improved. Any analytics data collected is used solely for internal service improvement and is not shared with third parties for advertising or behavioral profiling purposes.

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party advertising cookies. We expressly prohibit any analytics provider from using data collected through our Service for their own advertising, cross-site tracking, or audience profiling purposes.

D. Third-Party Cookies

In the course of providing the Service, certain third-party vendors may set cookies on your device. We exercise strict control over which third-party cookies are permitted and do not allow any third party to set advertising, retargeting, or cross-site behavioral tracking cookies on the Service. The third-party cookies currently permitted are limited to:

  • Our authentication provider — Authentication and session management cookies. These are strictly necessary and governed by that provider's privacy policy.
  • Our payment processor — Payment processing and fraud prevention cookies. These are strictly necessary and governed by that provider's privacy policy.

We do not permit, and expressly prohibit, the use of advertising networks, data brokers, cross-context behavioral advertising cookies, or social media tracking pixels on the Service.

4. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Authentication and Session Management: To verify your identity, maintain your logged-in state, and protect your account from unauthorized access across multiple pages and requests within a single session.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: To implement CSRF protection via stateless double-submit tokens and to support our payment processor's fraud detection mechanisms, preventing unauthorized or malicious requests from being processed on your behalf.
  • Payment Processing: To facilitate secure payment transactions through our payment processor, including 3D Secure (3DS) card verification as required by our payment processor and applicable card network rules.
  • User Preference Retention: To remember your interface configuration, location selection, and display preferences so you do not need to reconfigure them each time you use the Service.
  • Service Improvement: To understand how the Service is used in aggregate, identify performance issues, and prioritize product improvements that benefit all users.

We do not use cookies to build profiles for targeted advertising, to track you across unaffiliated websites, or to sell, lease, or otherwise monetize information about your browsing behavior.

5. Cookie Duration

Cookies placed by or through the Service fall into two duration categories:

  • Session Cookies: These cookies are temporary and are automatically deleted from your device when you close your browser or end your browsing session. Session cookies are used for CSRF tokens (15-minute TTL, session-bound), in-progress payment flows, and certain transient authentication state.
  • Persistent Cookies: These cookies remain on your device for a defined period after you close your browser. The duration varies by purpose: authentication tokens follow the TTL configured by our identity provider; user preference cookies persist for up to one (1) year; location selector memory persists for up to ninety (90) days. All persistent cookies can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

The specific durations for cookies set by third-party providers are governed by those providers' own policies and may change without notice from us. We encourage you to review the privacy and cookie disclosures of those providers directly.

6. Your Cookie Choices

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject optional cookies, subject to the limitations described below. You may exercise your cookie preferences through the following mechanisms:

Browser-Level Controls

Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings preferences. You may configure your browser to refuse all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, alert you when a cookie is being set, or delete cookies that have already been stored on your device. Instructions for managing cookies are available through the native help documentation of the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome — Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
  • Apple Safari — Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Mozilla Firefox — Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Microsoft Edge — Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data

Important Limitation — Strictly Necessary Cookies

Disabling strictly necessary cookies — including authentication session cookies, CSRF tokens, and payment session cookies — will prevent the Service from functioning correctly. Specifically:

  • Staff and administrator accounts will be unable to log in or maintain authenticated sessions.
  • Payment transactions cannot be initiated or completed without payment session cookies.
  • Form submissions requiring CSRF protection will be rejected by the server.

We do not offer a functional alternative to these cookies as they are integral to the architecture and security of the Service. If you choose to disable strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to use the Service or access any of its features.

Third-Party Provider Opt-Outs

For cookies set by our third-party authentication and payment providers, please refer to those providers' own privacy and cookie controls. These are subject to their respective terms, privacy policies, and opt-out mechanisms, which are beyond our direct control.

7. California Residents — California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

If you are a resident of the State of California, the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020, collectively "CCPA") provides you with specific rights regarding the personal information we collect through cookies and similar technologies.

We do not sell personal information collected through cookies or any other mechanism. No information gathered via cookies on the Service is transferred to third parties in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration constituting a "sale" under the CCPA.

We do not use cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not share personal information collected via cookies with third parties for the purpose of targeting advertisements to you based on your activity across other websites or applications.

For a full description of your rights as a California resident — including the right to know, right to delete, right to correct, and right to opt out — please refer to the CCPA section of our Privacy Policy, or contact our privacy team directly at privacy@valetguide.com.

8. Do Not Track Signals

Some web browsers include a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activity tracked. There is currently no universally accepted technical standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and no binding legal requirement in California or at the federal level mandating a specific response.

At this time, the Service does not alter its data collection or use practices in response to DNT browser signals. Because we do not engage in cross-site behavioral tracking or advertising — regardless of DNT signal status — the practical impact of a DNT signal on your interaction with the Service is minimal. We will revisit this position if an industry standard for DNT compliance is formally adopted or if applicable law requires a specific response.

Regardless of DNT settings, you retain the ability to manage cookies directly through your browser settings as described in Section 6 above.

9. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Cookie Policy at any time to reflect changes in our practices, the technologies we use, applicable legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes — for example, by posting a prominent notice on the Service or by sending a direct communication to affected users.

Changes to this Cookie Policy become effective upon posting to the Service. We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of those changes to the extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Contact Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Cookie Policy or our use of cookies and similar technologies, please contact us using any of the methods below:

We will endeavor to respond to all legitimate inquiries within thirty (30) days. If you are a California resident exercising rights under the CCPA, please identify your request as a "CCPA Privacy Request" in your communication so we may prioritize and route it appropriately.
